Dow Jones Looks Set For The Fifth Drop In A Row
U.S. equities were broadly lower on Thursday ahead of the inauguration of President-elect Trump. Investors were also cautiously focusing on the Senate confirmation hearing of Steven Mnuchin for the post of Treasury Secretary which will provide his views on the dollar and tax issues.
The stock benchmark Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped more than 2% at 19,775, heading towards the fifth drop in a row and the lowest level since the start of the new year.
Two biggest decliners of the equity gauge were Exxon Mobil Corp. and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. While the multinational oil and gas corporation lost 1.46%, the multinational finance group recorded a drop of 0.97%.
