MICROSOFT SHARES ADVANCE AFTER THWARTING RUSSIAN CYBER-ATTACK

Microsoft shares rose after it had reported that it had stopped a Russian cyberattack on websites related to conservative US think tanks. Microsoft president Brad Smith said that the Russian government hackers created 6 websites that tried to mimic those of certain conservative US think tanks, the Senate, and even Microsoft itself. The goal was to trick people into clicking through those fake pages and thereby allowing the hackers to steal information from the visitors. Microsoft stated it found those sites and seized them.
In other recent news, Microsoft is being investigated by U.S. authorities over potential bribery and corruption related to software sales in Hungary, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
