Silver futures move higher on spot demand

NEW DELHI: Silver prices rose by Rs 143 to Rs 68,467 per kg in futures trade on Tuesday as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for May delivery gained Rs 143, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 68,467 per kg in 8,762 lots.

Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mostly due to fresh positions built by participants on a positive domestic trend.

However, globally silver was trading 0.42 per cent higher at USD 25.95 per ounce in New York.
