Futures on major US indices were trading in positive territory at the time of writing. S&P 500 and Dow Jones futures inched up to 3324.50 and 29317 respectively at the time of writing.
In major news overnight, US Agriculture Secretary Sonny Predue announced that US farmers are expected to get a third and final part of trade war –related payments even though a trade deal with Beijing has been singed.
On the economic front, US Building Permits data for the December month is scheduled to release today. The Building Permits is expected to fall down to 1.468M
European equities were trading lower on Thursday morning. In the Cash Markets, the CAC 40 and the DAX 30 added 0.78% and 0.57% respectively at the time of writing.
On the data front, the British Retail Sales (MoM)for December released earlier today came in at -0.6%. The Retail Sales change was below the market expectations of 0.5%.
Asia-Pacific stocks closed mostly higher on Thursday. The Nikkei 225 rose 0.45% to finish its trading day at 24,041.80. The Shanghai Composite gained 0.05% to close at 3,075.50. The ASX 200 advanced 0.32% to close at 7,064.10.
On the economic front, the Chinese GDP (QoQ) (Q4) released earlier today came in at 1.5%. The GDP change for the fourth quarter was in line with the consensus estimates of 1.5%.
US Dollar Index futures edged up 0.16% to 97.215 at the time of writing. The dollar rose to 8-month high against yen on Thursday.
In the Commodity Markets, Gold and Silver rose to 1556.55 and 18.06 respectively at the time of writing. In news related to commodity markets, Crude prices steady as weeker growth in china offsets phase one deal optimism. Gold prices rises on Friday as investors are skeptical about whether the US and China can maintain this deal.
In the Cryptocurrency Markets, Bitcoin and Ethereum rose to 8943.1 and 170.98 respectively at the time of writing. In news related to the Cryptocurrency markets, one of the major crypto currency exchange Huobi joined hand with turkey based blockchain platform to cooperate with local player.
