Futures on major US indices were trading in negative territory at the time of writing. S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures fell to 3356.30 and 9542.25 respectively at the time of writing.

On the earnings front, AIG and Ares Management are scheduled to release their quarterly results before the market open on Thursday.

On the economic front, U.S. Initial Jobless Claims for the week ended 8th February is scheduled to be released today at 8:30 am ET. Claims are expected to rise to 210K from 202K in the previous week.

European equities were trading lower on Thursday morning. In the Cash Markets, the CAC 40 and the FTSE 100 lost 1.23% and 1.45% respectively at the time of writing.

On the data front, the German CPI (MoM) for January released earlier today came in at -0.6%. The CPI change was in line with market expectations.

Asia-Pacific stocks closed mostly lower on Thursday. The Kospi index inched down 0.24% to close at 2,232.96. The Shanghai Composite fell 0.71% to finish its trading day at 2,906.07. On the other hand, the ASX 200 inched up 0.21% to close at 7,103.20.

On the data front, the Japanese PPI (YoY) for January released earlier today came in at 1.7%. The PPI change was above the market expectation of 1.5%.

US Dollar Index futures inched up 0.26% to 98.84 at the time of writing. The Japanese yen gained against the dollar today after China’s Hubei province disclosed a sharp rise in the number of new cases in a jolt to markets and increasing demand for safe-haven assets.

In the Commodity Markets, Gold and Silver rose to 1576.01 and 17.665 respectively at the time of writing. In news related to commodity markets, crude prices were mixed today as concerns about declining demand outweighed expectations of output cuts from major producers. Gold advanced today as a rise in the number of new China-liked virus cases in the country decreased hopes that the epidemic was slowing and sparking a flight for safe-haven assets.

In the Cryptocurrency Markets, Bitcoin fell to 10,140.77 and Ethereum rose to 261.016 at the time of writing. In news related to the Cryptocurrency markets, prices of major cryptocurrencies were trading mostly lower on Thursday morning. Bitcoin’s market capitalization fell to $184.71B at the time of writing.
