Market Overview
Crypto ended the week in a narrow range after a sharp midweek reversal. Bitcoin pushed toward 85,000 on more than $1 billion of ETF inflows from Monday to Wednesday, then fell to a Thursday low near 80,989 as a technology sell-off, higher oil and renewed US–Iran headlines hit risk assets. US spot Bitcoin ETFs lost $635.6 million on Thursday, the largest daily outflow since June, and more than $400 million of leveraged positions were liquidated. On our chart feed Bitcoin trades at 80,691, 1.60% below Monday’s open, while BNB is the only major in the green.
The weekly charts show the split. Bitcoin is holding its August breakout above the old falling channel, while Ether, XRP and Litecoin are pressed against triangle floors and Dogecoin has broken below its rising line. Ether ETFs have lost money in most sessions this month, and options traders are paying more for downside protection in Ether than in Bitcoin.
The Fed decides on Wednesday at 18:00 GMT, with a hold at 3.75–4.00% expected and an October hike priced near 5%. September PCE inflation and Q3 GDP follow on Thursday at 12:30 GMT, then the ECB at 13:15 GMT and the Bank of Japan on Friday. Ripple’s Swell conference runs from 27 to 29 October, and US midterm elections come on 3 November. We rate Bitcoin, XRP, Dogecoin and BNB highest, where chart levels and flows agree, and Ether and Litecoin lowest.
Key highlights
- Fed: A hold is nearly fully priced for Wednesday, while a December hike is still seen as very likely; the 10-year yield fell to about 4.95% on Thursday.
- Bitcoin: 80,691 holds above the 76,065 and 72,401 averages, capped by 84,843 and the 89,546 average; RSI is 55.36.
- ETF flows: Bitcoin ETFs took in $1.07 billion Monday to Wednesday then lost $635.6 million on Thursday; Ether ETFs lost $110.6 million on Thursday.
- Ether and Litecoin: Both sit on rising triangle floors, at 2,331 and 52.04 respectively, with RSI near 50.
- XRP and Dogecoin: XRP defends the 1.25 average ahead of Swell; Dogecoin has broken below its rising line with RSI at 43.18.
- BNB: Up 1.26% and holding the 727.62 average beneath the channel top near 770–780.

Key Market Drivers
A hold is expected, so December guidance decides crypto
Fed funds stand at 3.75–4.00%. With an October hike priced near 5% and a December move still seen as very likely, the statement and press conference matter more than the decision. Thursday’s PCE print lands after the Fed, so it works as a confirmation trade on whatever bias the statement leaves. A hawkish tone pressures all six coins, while a softer one gives oversold altcoins room to bounce.
Key events: Wednesday 28 October, decision at 18:00 GMT and press conference at 18:30 GMT; Thursday 29 October, GDP and PCE at 12:30 GMT.
ETF flows swing harder than price
Bitcoin ETFs added $526.7 million, $23.2 million and $528.4 million on Monday to Wednesday, then lost $635.6 million on Thursday. Ether ETFs lost $110.6 million on Thursday, and spot XRP ETFs have drawn more than $1.5 billion in total but are slowing. Daily flows are the clearest read on whether institutions are buying the 80,000 area.
Key events: Daily US spot ETF flow data, published each evening; the first test is Monday 26 October.
Tech, oil and Iran headlines set the risk tone
Crypto has tracked technology shares, and Thursday’s Nasdaq slide, a jump in oil and reports of renewed US–Iran hostilities pulled Bitcoin from near 84,000 to 80,989. Higher oil feeds inflation fears and keeps December hike odds elevated. Open interest is flat and funding slightly positive, so a break of 80,000 could trigger more forced selling.
Key events: Wednesday 28 October, EIA petroleum report at 14:30 GMT; Monday 26 October, Asia open reaction to weekend headlines.
Swell, positioning and dominance steer the altcoins
Ripple’s Swell conference gives XRP a catalyst from Tuesday, though whale transfers to Binance reached a seven-month high of $112.4 million on Thursday. Bitcoin dominance sits near 59.4%, so altcoins have lagged. Dogecoin and Litecoin have no scheduled catalyst and should follow Bitcoin and the Fed.
Key events: Tuesday 27 October, Swell opens in New York; Thursday 29 October, ECB decision at 13:15 GMT.
Bitcoin at 80,000 and Ether at 2,331 mark the two lines most exposed to the Fed and ETF flows. A weekly close beneath either would change the picture for the whole market.
Fed Scenario Analysis
Consensus is a hold at 3.75–4.00% following September’s 25 bps hike. The decision is due on Wednesday 28 October at 18:00 GMT, with the press conference at 18:30 GMT. Levels show technical reference points for each coin.

Bitcoin Outlook: Bulls Defend the $80,000 Floor Into the Fed
80,691 -1,311 (-1.60%) week Range 80,351–84,843
Outlook: Bias is range-bound with a lean higher while 80,000 holds. Bitcoin traded at 80,691 on the weekly chart, 1.60% below Monday’s open, after a rejection near 84,843 and a Thursday sell-off that wiped out $400 million or more of leveraged positions. Dips into 80,000 are the zone to work from, and a daily close above 84,843 would break the range.

- Support 2
- 76,065
- Support 1
- 80,000
- Resistance 1
- 84,843
- Resistance 2
- 89,546
Weekly chart structure
- Trend: the falling channel from the October 2025 record near 126,000 was broken in August; price holds above it and the rising line from 2023 sits far below.
- Averages: the 89,546 average caps price, while 76,065 and 72,401 below are layered support.
- Candle: bearish so far, opened 82,002, high 84,843, low 80,351, trading 1.60% lower with the week still open.
- Momentum: RSI 55.36 sits above its 52.96 signal line and above 50, so momentum remains constructive.
Key technical levels
80,000 is the round-number floor and the area traders flag as the line in the sand; the 80,351 weekly low is the first pivot inside it. A weekly close beneath 80,000 exposes 76,065. 84,843 is the weekly high and range top, and a close above it would open 87,570, the 2026 opening price, then the 89,546 average.
Fundamental drivers
ETF flows and the Fed
US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in about $1.07 billion from Monday to Wednesday, then lost $635.6 million on Thursday, the largest daily outflow since June (The Block). Whether inflows return after the Fed decides the next leg. CME-based odds put an October hike near 5%, but a December hike is still seen as very likely, and the 10-year yield fell almost 20 basis points on Thursday to about 4.95% (Crypto.com, Nexo).
Tech, oil and positioning
Crypto has been trading with technology shares, and renewed US–Iran headlines on Thursday sent Bitcoin from near 84,000 to a low of 80,989 (Benzinga). Open interest is flat, funding is slightly positive at 0.0067% and options skew has eased, so a break of 80,000 could extend through forced selling.

- Target 1
- 84,800
- Target 2
- 87,500
Risk 2,200. Reward:risk 2.2 to target 1, 3.4 to target 2.
Rationale: Price has defended the 80,000 area through a tech sell-off and an oil spike, the August breakout is intact, and RSI is above 50. The setup offers a defined stop beneath the floor.
Invalidation: A daily close below 77,800. A hawkish Fed hold with another large ETF outflow would likely send price to 76,065.
ETH | Ethereum / US Dollar (ETH/USD)
Ethereum Outlook: Triangle Floor Near 2,331 Faces ETF Outflows
2,367.1 -41.0 (-1.70%) week Range 2,350.0–2,523.5
Outlook: Bias is neutral to lower while 2,523 caps. Ether traded at 2,367 on the weekly chart, 1.70% lower, sitting on the rising triangle line and the 2,331 average. Persistent ETF outflows make this the weakest of the large caps, so dips into 2,331 are a low-conviction buying zone rather than a trend call.
Key levels
- Support 2
- 2,165.8
- Support 1
- 2,331.0
- Resistance 1
- 2,523.5
- Resistance 2
- 2,740.5
Weekly chart structure
- Pattern: a triangle between the falling line from the 4,946 August 2025 record and the rising line from the June low; price is on the lower line.
- Averages: 2,740.5 caps from above, while 2,331 sits directly under price and 2,165.8 is the deeper support.
- Candle: bearish so far, opened 2,406.8, high 2,523.5, low 2,350, trading 1.70% lower.
- Momentum: RSI 51.56 has crossed below its 54.17 signal line and is close to the 50 midpoint.
Key technical levels
2,331 is the average and triangle floor; a weekly close beneath it exposes 2,165.8. 2,523.5 is the week’s high and first resistance, and a close above it would put the 2,740.5 average and the triangle top near 2,800 back in play.
Fundamental drivers
ETF outflows
Spot Ether ETFs lost $110.6 million on Thursday (Farside) and about $225 million from Monday to Thursday (Crypto.com). October outflows reached roughly $1.08 billion through 20 October (TradingKey), so institutional demand is the main drag.
Options and macro
One-week options skew in Ether is near 13% and rising, against about 4% in Bitcoin, so traders are paying more for downside protection (Nexo). A hawkish Fed would add pressure through higher yields.

- 2,523.0
- Target 2
- 2,740.0
Risk 100.0. Reward:risk 1.8 to target 1, 4.0 to target 2.
Rationale: The 2,331 average and the rising triangle line align under price, giving a tight stop; the stop is small relative to the 2,523 and 2,740 targets. ETF outflows and rising downside skew keep conviction low.
Invalidation: A daily close below 2,240. A weekly close under 2,331 would also argue for stepping aside.
XRP | XRP / US Dollar (XRP/USD)
XRP Outlook: Price Sits on the 1.25 Average Inside a Large Triangle
1.2852 -0.0205 (-1.57%) week Range 1.2718–1.3981
Outlook: Bias is neutral while 1.25 holds. XRP traded at 1.2852 on the weekly chart, 1.57% lower, after a rejection from 1.398 and a drop of about 4–6% on Thursday. Dips toward 1.25 are the zone to work from, with Ripple’s Swell conference giving a headline catalyst from Tuesday.

Weekly chart structure

- Averages: 1.4705 and 2.00785 sit above price, while 1.25012 is directly beneath it.
- Candle: bearish so far, opened 1.30513, high 1.39808, low 1.27179, trading 1.57% lower.
- Momentum: RSI 46.60 is below 50 and level with its 46.56 signal line, showing no clear momentum.
Key technical levels
1.25 is the average and first support; beneath it, the 1.17 level (the 0.786 Fibonacci retracement flagged by BeInCrypto) lines up with the rising triangle line. 1.398 is the weekly high and 1.4705 the next average; a weekly close above it would target 1.70.
Fundamental drivers
ETF demand and whales
Spot XRP ETFs have drawn more than $1.5 billion in cumulative inflows, but buying has slowed, and whale transfers to Binance reached $112.4 million, a seven-month high (crypto.news). XRP rose 48% in the third quarter, but October has been a weak month historically.
Events
Ripple’s Swell conference runs in New York from 27 to 29 October. A US market-structure bill failed a Senate vote 49 to 50 on 15 September, so regulatory headlines remain a risk (BeInCrypto).

Rationale: Price sits on the 1.25 average with the triangle floor near 1.15, so the stop is compact; ETF demand and the Swell window offer upside catalysts while slowing buying limits conviction.
Invalidation: A daily close below 1.15. A break beneath the triangle floor would target 1.00.

Dogecoin Outlook: Break Below the Rising Line Targets 0.065

Weekly chart structure

- Averages: 0.08116, 0.09983 and 0.16895 all sit above price, a bearish stack.
- Candle: bearish so far, opened 0.07945, high 0.08380, low 0.07688, trading 2.24% lower.
- Momentum: RSI 43.18 is below 50 and above its 42.73 signal line, weak but not oversold.
Key technical levels
0.0769 is the week’s low and first support; a weekly close beneath it opens 0.0650, the level marked on the chart. 0.0812 is the average and the prior triangle-line retest, 0.0838 is the weekly high, and 0.0998 is the next average.
Fundamental drivers
Sentiment and market share
Dogecoin fell 3.7% on Thursday as risk appetite faded (Benzinga) and has slipped below the lower edge of its wedge near 0.090 earlier in the week (CryptoTicker). Meme coins carry only about 4% of the altcoin market, so they rank among the first to lose liquidity in a risk-off move.
Macro
Higher oil and a December Fed hike keep real yields elevated, which weighs on the most speculative tokens. A dovish Fed hold is the main upside risk to this short.

Rationale: The break of the rising line, a bearish average stack and RSI below 50 favour selling bounces; entering at the 0.0812 average keeps the stop tight.
Invalidation: A daily close above 0.0845. A dovish Fed hold or a short squeeze in meme coins could push price toward 0.0998.

Litecoin Outlook: Pullback From 62 Tests the 52.04 Average Zone
56.52 -2.54 (-4.30%) week Range 55.93–62.33
Outlook: Bias is neutral while 52.04 holds. Litecoin traded at 56.52 on the weekly chart, 4.30% lower, the weakest of the six majors, after failing at 62.33 and slipping under the 58.88 average. Dips toward 52.04 are the zone to work from, but conviction is low.

Weekly chart structure

- Averages: 81.22 and 58.88 sit above price, while 52.04 is the nearest support.
- Candle: bearish so far, opened 59.05, high 62.33, low 55.93, trading 4.30% lower.
- Momentum: RSI 49.84 has rolled over to the 50 midpoint and sits level with its 49.57 signal line.
Key technical levels
55.93 is the week’s low and first support; a weekly close beneath it points to 52.04, which coincides with the rising triangle line. 58.88 is the average and first resistance, 62.33 the weekly high, and a close above it would target the 81.22 average.
Fundamental drivers
Risk tone
Litecoin gave back more than most majors on Thursday as the tech sell-off spread into crypto, and the broader market capitalisation fell about 2.6% in a day (CryptoTicker). With no scheduled Litecoin catalyst this week, it will follow Bitcoin and the Fed.
Rates
A hawkish Fed hold would hit higher-beta payment tokens first, while a softer December signal would let the pullback stabilise at the average.

Rationale: The 52.04 average and the rising triangle line converge under price, giving a clean stop below 49.80; low conviction reflects the lack of a Litecoin-specific catalyst.
Invalidation: A daily close below 49.80. A weekly close beneath the triangle floor would turn the bias lower.

BNB Outlook: Only Major in the Green, Holding the 727.62 Average
731.63 +9.10 (+1.26%) week Range 720.99–750.92
Outlook: Bias is neutral to higher while 721 holds. BNB traded at 731.63 on the weekly chart, up 1.26%, the only major of the six in the green, and sits right on the 727.62 average beneath the falling channel top. Dips toward 721–725 are the zone to work from.

- Averages: 727.62 is on price, with 701.96 and 663.06 as layered support below.
- Candle: bullish so far, opened 722.54, high 750.92, low 720.99, trading 1.26% higher.
- Momentum: RSI 54.65 is above 50 and above its 53.85 signal line.
Key technical levels
720.99 is the week’s low and first support; beneath it, 701.96 is the next average and a weekly close there would open 663.06. 750.92 is the weekly high and first resistance, and a close above it would target the channel top near 780.
Fundamental drivers
Relative strength
BNB held near 731 on Thursday (Motley Fool) while Bitcoin and XRP fell 3% to 6%, which is consistent with its lower beta this week. It remains tied to Binance and to overall exchange activity.
Risks
A break of Bitcoin’s 80,000 floor would likely pull BNB below its average, since it has not decoupled from the market during sharp sell-offs.

Rationale: BNB has outperformed in a down week, RSI is above 50 and the 727.62 average and 721 low sit close beneath price, giving a stop below the 701.96 average.
Invalidation: A daily close below 698. A break of Bitcoin 80,000 would likely drag BNB through its averages.

| 00:00 GMT | October monthly crypto candle closes | All six | Medium | Monthly close relative to 80,000 sets the tone for November |
All times are GMT. The US moves off daylight saving time on 1 November, so 08:30 ET releases fall at 12:30 GMT this week. Crypto trades around the clock, so weekend and Asian-session gaps can move prices outside these windows.
Conclusion
The Fed and Thursday’s inflation data set the theme, with ETF flows and oil headlines driving the days between. A hawkish hold would test Bitcoin at 80,000 and 76,065 and drag Ether toward 2,331, while a dovish one could send Bitcoin back toward 84,843 and lift the altcoins from their triangle floors.
On conviction, Bitcoin, XRP, BNB and Dogecoin rank at medium, with Ether and Litecoin at low because of persistent ETF outflows and the absence of a Litecoin-specific catalyst respectively. Dogecoin is the only short, reflecting its broken trendline.
We treat every level as conditional, let the event windows pass before adding exposure and size positions so that a stop-out is affordable. Spreads can widen sharply around the Fed announcement, and thin weekend liquidity can exaggerate moves.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which events matter most for crypto this week?
The Fed decision on Wednesday at 18:00 GMT and the US GDP and PCE data on Thursday at 12:30 GMT set the tone. Daily US spot ETF flows and oil headlines move Bitcoin and Ether between those events, and Ripple’s Swell conference (27–29 October) matters for XRP.
Will the Fed change rates on 28 October?
Markets expect no change, with the chance of an October hike near 5%. The open question is whether the statement signals a December hike, which most traders still expect.
Why did Bitcoin fall back from 85,000?
Bitcoin was rejected near 84,843 as a technology sell-off, a jump in oil and renewed US–Iran headlines hit risk assets on Thursday. More than $400 million of leveraged positions were liquidated, and US spot ETFs lost $635.6 million, the largest daily outflow since June.
Why is Ethereum weaker than Bitcoin?
Spot Ether ETFs have seen outflows in most sessions this month, with roughly $1.08 billion withdrawn through 20 October, and options skew shows more demand for downside protection in Ether than in Bitcoin.
Why is BNB the only major in the green?
BNB held near its 727.62 average while Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, Dogecoin and Litecoin fell. It has a lower beta this week, but a break of Bitcoin’s 80,000 floor would likely pull it lower.
How can traders manage risk in a Fed week?
Reduce position size before the decision, avoid new entries in the minutes around it and allow for wider spreads, since crypto trades around the clock and weekend gaps in liquidity can exaggerate moves. Use defined stops rather than adding exposure after an initial spike.
